BIRC Tournament Update
Have you registered for the BIRC tournament yet? Some events are filling up quickly while others still have plenty of spots available. For those of you who are undecided, let us try to persuade you to sign up:
They have introduced age groups, which means you'll be competing against players closer to your age, fostering more evenly-matched games.
This tournament is conveniently located near your home. Many tournaments require travel (and a ferry ride, yikes!), so this is a great chance to participate without spending all day away from home.
It's not just a local affair. If you're concerned about only facing your friends, rest assured that many participants from other communities are signing up. More outreach to neighboring areas is planned; they just wanted to give locals the first opportunity for spots.
BEGINNIER FRIENDLY: This is a great first tournament to try to see if you like participating in tournaments. The skills are broken out so that even a beginner can join in the fun. It’s a great way to get to meet new pickleball friends and have fun playing pickleball.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: This is our chance to play pickleball at the BIRC and demonstrate to Parks that there is a demand for indoor play opportunities. A strong turnout will encourage our Parks Department to continue offering programs for us and show that we are a community they should pay attention to.
